The EAGLE that thought he was a Prairie Chicken
One day a newborn eaglette fell to the ground from his high nest and was injured. Fortunately for him, a kindly Prairie Chicken hen passed by and carried him to her home to nurse him back to health.
Over time, he slowly healed; but he learned the ways of his Prairie Chicken brothers and sisters, running around on his two legs, pecking in the dirt for seeds and grubs (though they never really satisfied him).
Every once in a while, he would see these magnificent birds, with great outstretched wings, soaring the heavens.
"Oh, how I wish I could be like them!" he'd think. Something within him drew him toward the skies. "But alas," he'd say, dropping his head, "I am but a Prairie Chicken, and that's all I'll ever be".
So time went by, the Eagle grew old and died, never having spread his great wings and soared the skies as his Creator had intended.
So often it is with us, that our circumstances keep us from realizing who we really are and all we were meant to be. But we have found that the Creator, Who made Himself more fully known through the man Jesus Christ, has made a way for us to become the soaring Eagles we are all meant to be. We don't have to let addictions, or the effects of past abuse, or anything or anyone else, keep us from the full life our Creator God and Father intends for us. Jesus came to prove that by His very life - and offers it to us all.
